The Ecoriticism of Ali Ashraf Darvishian's Works

Abstract

 
Studies on the ecological and environmental elements in the literature are related to a new branch of literary studies known as eco-criticism. The difference in the ecological backgrounds leads to the stylistic, intellectual and literary distinctions of the literary writers. Since eco-criticism mainly concentrates on the relationship and interaction between literature and ecosphere, regarding to the extent of this approach and definition of Gloteftly about this kinds of eco-criticism, it can be said that eco-criticism addresses the relationship between literature and physical environment. In addition, the eco features which are limited to the eco-criticism are the factors of the physical environment of literary works. These features in stories written by Ali Ashraf Darvishian show his attitude toward the surrounding environment as well as the importance and effect of geography and ecology on his works. Darvishian is one of the remarkable writers in the ecological literature, especially in story writing school, in the Western part of Iran, Kermanshah. Accordingly, he reflected his self in a form of beliefs, ideas, customs, habits, native nature, weather, architecture, language, terminology, colloquial expressions and proverbs by describing the native and ecological elements, consciousness or unconsciousness impacts of these elements on the mind and language.
