The Quality of Text Cohesion in Ahmad Shamlou's Narrative poems for children based on The Poetries “paria” and “dukhtaraye nnane darya”

Abstract

Ahmad shamloo has a distinguished status among the contemporary poets Due to his stylistic and linguistic identity, And his role in the emergence of blank verse. Shamloo’s success in such a formal innovation in the structure of nursery rhymes and the use of symbolic and allegorical childish language to inspire his intellectual and emotional lebenswelt, and thereby stimulation and promotion of the communal emotions of the audiences (both children and adults) is considerable. Using Halliday's approach to discover the cohesion of his texts, we can rocognise aspects of his poetic language, its formation quality, and it's isotopy with his nursery rhymes' meaning and content. Considering the importance of the issue, this descriptive-analytic study, based on the Functionalism theory of Halliday, tries to represent the "cohision of text" through investigating nursery rhymes of Shamloo. The results have shown that, among cohesion factors of the text in Shamloo's nursery rhymes, endophora, repetition, collocation, and conjunctions have the most frequency. These elements show the referential role of poetry and textual convergence and cohesion of nursery rhymes and a proof of leading the audience by him through emphasizing and frequency.
