Abstract
Postmodernism is a movement with a wide semantic field that return to modernism. This movement has created many revolutions in various spheres of political, social, economic, and also art and literature. Postmodernism can be seen in stories and novels of authors of various languages including Arabic-language authors. Yosuf Al-Qa'id is one of Egypt's greatest contemporary novelists, whose works have been translated to many languages, including English, French and German. In this paper, besides a brief introduction of this author and by using descriptive-analytical method, it has been tried to analyze some of the most important elements of postmodernist such as metafiction, multiplicity of narrators and point of view, the uncertainty and ambiguity, non-linear narrative of events, inconsistency and revealing the artificiality to answer to a basic question: can we treat this novel as a postmodernist novel? Findings show that some elements are common between modern and postmodern narrative literature and this prevents precise demarcation between modernism and postmodernism.
