Today, Peyman Esmaeili is considered as one of the young, creative and successful authors in our country whose works has been faced with the readers’ favor and critics’ praise. His latest work is Negahban (the Guard) which has an eventful story that refers to two sides of violence and sentiment and is inspired by an ancient myth as myth of </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: ''Times New Roman'',''serif''; font-weight: normal; color: black; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-bidi; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-bidi; mso-bidi-theme-font: major-bidi;">Keyumars</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: ''Times New Roman'',''serif''; font-weight: normal; color: black; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-bidi; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-bidi; mso-bidi-theme-font: major-bidi;"> under the effects of gothic thoughts. This story happens in a gothic and terrific setting. In this paper, the novel of Negahban is studied by analyzing the content analysis, classifying the topics, presenting the text of this story and referring to the published criticisms and interviews related to this novel. This research states that Peyman Esmaeili presents several effective themes in a lovely mythic texture in his novel. The themes include agitation, illusion and fear which are sometimes completely imaginary, and sometimes appear real and believable and transfer the fictional implications. These themes show the bitter, dreadful and undeniable realities of human life inwardly.</span> در عرصۀ داستان­نویسی و روایت­پردازی، هر نویسنده می­تواند از مضامین متعدّد در حوزه­های مختلف اجتماعی، تاریخی، ادبی و...کارکردی داستانی بسازد و بافت درون­مایه­های قصّۀ خود را با آنها پیوند دهد. پیمان اسماعیلی یکی از نویسندگان جوان، خلاق و موفق امروز کشور ما محسوب می­شود که آثارش با اقبال خوانندگان و تحسین منتقدان روبه­رو شده است. آخرین اثر وی رمان <em>نگهبان</em> است که در آن داستانی پر حادثه با دو بُعد خشونت و عاطفه، به مدد یکی از اسطوره­های قدیمی (اسطوره کیومرث)، در بستری گوتیکی و وحشت­انگیز روایت می­شود. در مقالۀ حاضر، رمان <em>نگهبان</em> از طریق تحلیل محتوا، طبقه­بندی موضوعی، ارائۀ شواهدی از متن داستان، ارجاع به نقدها و مصاحبه­های منتشرشده پیرامون این رمان مورد بررسی قرار می­گیرد. در این پژوهش نشان داده می­شود که پیمان اسماعیلی در این اثر، درون­مایه­های متعدّد و تأثیرگذاری را در بافتی از عشق و اسطوره ارائه می­دهد. درون­مایه­هایی از جنس اضطراب، وهم و هراس که گاه در عین تخیّلی بودن، بسیار واقعی و باورپذیر جلوه می­کنند و اگرچه ظاهری داستانی دارند، اما حقایق تلخ، وحشتناک و غیرقابل انکار زندگی انسان امروز را در عمق خود به تصویر می­کشند. https://pl.journals.pnu.ac.ir/article_2662_f2144ef01096e8d93f3a3e750a87d42e.pdf
