Structural analysis of Khanlari’s poem “Eagle” and Yushij’s poem “Serivili house” according to Bremond’s and Greimas’s theories * Mahmud Aghakhani Bizhani1 /** Dr.Esmaiel Sadeghi / *** Dr.masood foroozandeh Abstract: Narration is a suitable ground for reporting the actual chronogical order of events. In this research the plots of Khanlari’s poem “Eagle” and Yushij’s poem “Serivili house” as the building blocks of these narrative poems are analyzed from the view points of Bremond and Grimas. The reason for considering these two narrative poems is the existance of fictional motifs such as plot, point of view and description, all of which are the builiding blocks of a story. According to Bremond’s and Greimas’s theories, initially there is a balanced situation in these two narrative poems. Then there is an incident which changes the initial situation to an unbalanced one. After the hero achieves his goal (or does not achieve his goal) a new balanced situation is formed. Moreoker, there exist oll the six agentive elements in these two poems. Hence, the reason of choosing this topic is the mapping of these theories on narrative poems. Further mone, these tow poems one in line with the theories of the both structuralist. Key Words: “Contemporary narrative poem”, “Structuralist criticism”, “Claud Bremond”, “A.J.Greimas”, “Plot”, “Eagle”, “Seryueli house”. *BA Student of – Shahrekord University. aghakhani46@yahoo.com (Responsible writer1) ** Assistant professor, Shahre Kord University. sadeghiesma@gmail.com *** Assistant professor, Shahre Kord University. foroozandeh@lit.sku.ac.ir

The good and the evil can be observed in almost all phenomena in Ancient Iran. Water, this resuscitative element, can be both devastating and healing or sometimes it can act even as water of death.
Similar to most of the myths in Ancient Iran, this dichotomy is also present in the Shahnameh. Myths such as elixir (water) of life and The Story of Spring of Su are among the most striking examples of the dichotomy of water as a symbol in the Shahnameh. Moreover, associated with this topic are instances of water animism which can be observed in the Shahnameh, especially in The Story of Yazdgerd.

In Persian literature,in addition to sonnet (Ghazel) pattern, taking advantage of romantic poems was also prevailed (and is still prevailing) to express lyric and romantic contents. Narration is among those literary types that was considered very soon in Persian poetry. At the end of the 6th century AH, the arrangement of romantic stories by Nezami-ye Ganjavi reached its highest peak. He versified several famous stories of his era in such a way that most of romantic versifiers, knowingly or unknowingly, were affected by his style and method of narration. One of his glorious poems is Layly and Majnoon the root of which should be searched in Arab literature. The story has been imitated in different languages several times by poets. In this study, after providing some introductory grounding, the author tries to briefly present the historical-social roots, time and place of the story and the date of its propagation in Arab and Persian literature. Then by paying attention to a brief explanation of the Arabic narration accompanied by Nezami-ye Ganjavi's version of the story, he attempts to make a comparative, analytical criticism of the cases.
